Johannes Basson, Top Achiever, June 2017

Johannes Basson excelled in the P3 June Exam, we had a chat with him to hear how he made it happen;

What do you believe being an ACCA member will do for your career?

I believe the ACCA qualification will compliment my existing credentials and effectively portray me as a well-balanced, technically adept professional.

How do you find the time to study effectively while working full time?

This has never been easy but I like to think that my daily work actually feeds into the knowledge requirements of my studies and vice versa. Other than that, I try to find an extra hour wherever I can to chip away at the syllabus.

How do you stay motivated?

By constantly thinking about my long-term prosperity and how my perseverance always seems to pay off eventually.

What words of encouragement do you have for other students?

If you feel like you are about to quit then remind yourself why you started!

Keep your eye on the price!

Nicholas Thami Tshilani, Top Achiever June 2017

Nicholas is one of the students who did exceptionally well in the June Exam, particularly with F7. We had a chat with Nicholas and this is what he had to say;

What do you believe being an ACCA member will do for your career?

ACCA will definitely open doors which were previously closed for me. Having such a prestigious qualification will accelerate me to even more greater heights. I get very excited when I think of all the possibilities.

How do you find the time to study effectively while working full time?

You need to have complete commitment if you want to achieve good results through ACCA, with no procrastinating , just go at it at full speed. Plan your weekdays, arrive at work early or leave late and use that time wisely. Just tell yourself that, you have no weekends and it must be study, study. Ask a lot questions, it really works and do a lot of past exam papers and be disciplined as you doing it.

How do you stay motivated?

Just keep the end results in mind…ACCA qualification. I knew from the beginning that I just needed to push myself to the limit and I took enough modules to keep myself very busy and motivated.

What words of encouragement do you have for other students?

If you can, attend classes and prepare for these lecturers and asks questions, there is no stupid question. Participate on whatsApp group chats, there is so much help out there, there is absolutely no reason to suffer alone. Believe in your abilities and know that it is just a matter of time and the qualification will be yours. If you work hard, the pastures of success await you, and things sometimes just become a bit easier with some hard work.

Nafisa Kistan, Top Achiever June 2017

Nafisa is one of the Top Achievers from the June Exam session, we had an interesting chat with Nafisa;

What do you believe being an ACCA member will do for your career?

I am an ACMA, CGMA and adding ACCA to my academic and career profile will enable me to continue to add value to the organizations I work for. I also believe that because ACCA offers a globally sought after qualification, I can work anywhere in the world.

How do you find the time to study effectively while working full time?

Time is a limited resource and has always been when it came to studying as I have always studied part time. I also have a 2 year old son. I have come to realize that it is not quantity but quality that matters. I try to relate concepts and subject matter as best as I can to my work experience and I used BPP online classes and practice past papers.

How do you stay motivated?

Studying is not about the overall motivation to complete the studies, it is rather the daily motivation that matters, which can be hard. I think about the future and building a solid foundation for my son and I truly believe in the power of continuously educating oneself.

What words of encouragement do you have for other students?

Work according to your time line and the pace that suits you. Focus on understanding what you are studying. It will help in the long run. PUSH on no matter what life throws at you.

Stay motivated!

Tracey Davids, Top Achiever June 2017

We had an insightful discussion with Tracey, read more to find out what keeps her going!

What do you believe being an ACCA member will do for your career?

Being an ACCA member will open up doors for my career in more exciting and challenging roles. As ACCA is globally recognised, it could potentially open up doors for me in a role overseas.

How do you find the time to study effectively while working full time?

It is really difficult balancing a full time job with studies, but I usually set up a timetable and have a set plan. It may change or be updated at times, but I try and stick to it. Discipline, persistence and sacrifice is key.

How do you stay motivated?

I stay motivated by keeping my eye on the end goal, which is becoming an ACCA member. I’m also motivated by the small victories along the way such as being able to stick to my study programme and exam. Studying and working is not easy for anyone, it really requires dedication and commitment, so every little step in the right direction is a victory.

What words of encouragement do you have for other students?

Being educated is something no one can ever take away from you. Education enriches and empowers you as an individual. Personally, i think education is the greatest gist you can give to yourself or anyone else. Always remember that there is no such thing as failure, it just means you have unfinished success. Real “failure” is when you stop trying. So, never give up, every sacrifice will be worth it. Success will be the result of your hard work ,learning from past “unfinished successes”, dedication and persistence.

Keep on keeping on!
